FAQ
Questions people actually ask
Straight answers on documents, refunds, IRS letters, back taxes and business filings. If yours isn't here, calling is always faster than searching.
Getting started
For a personal return: photo ID and Social Security cards for everyone on the return, all W-2s and 1099s, last year's filed return, and a voided check for direct deposit. Add Form 1095-A if you had Marketplace health coverage, Form 1098 for mortgage interest, Form 1098-T for tuition, and your childcare provider's name, address and tax ID if you are claiming that credit. For a business: your year-end profit and loss and balance sheet, business bank and credit card statements, payroll reports, 1099s issued and received, and your prior-year business return. If you are not sure, bring what you have — we will tell you exactly what is still missing.
Walk-ins are welcome during business hours, and notary work in particular rarely needs an appointment. We do recommend calling ahead for business returns, bookkeeping catch-up work and anything involving multiple years, so we can set aside proper time for it. You can reach the office at (407) 482-4041.
Yes. This office has served Orlando's English- and Spanish-speaking communities since 2007 — the firm's original motto is 'La Experiencia Hace La Diferencia.' We also provide certified Spanish and English document translation as a standalone service.
Yes, and this is more common than most people assume. Unfiled years do not resolve themselves, and if the IRS files a substitute return on your behalf it ignores every deduction you were entitled to — which usually means the balance it shows is higher than what you actually owe. We can rebuild the missing years, file them, and address what is owed. One time limit worth knowing: a refund for an unfiled year is generally forfeited if the return is filed more than three years after its due date.
Tax returns
Once a return is e-filed, the IRS typically acknowledges acceptance within about 24 hours, and refunds sent by direct deposit generally arrive within 21 days. Two things can extend that: returns claiming the Earned Income Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit are held by law until mid-February regardless of how early they are filed, and any return the IRS selects for additional review takes longer. You can track your own refund directly on the IRS 'Where's My Refund' tool.
Yes. Electronic filing is the fastest route the IRS offers, it gives you an electronic acknowledgment that your return was accepted — something paper filing never provides — and it eliminates the transcription errors that come from mail processing. A small number of situations still require a paper return, and we will tell you if yours is one of them.
It depends on the complexity of the return — a single W-2 with the standard deduction is a fraction of the work of a business return with depreciation schedules and multiple K-1s. Call the office at (407) 482-4041 with a short description of your situation and we will talk you through what is involved.
Do not ignore it, and do not panic. Most IRS notices are routine, but every one of them carries a response deadline printed on the letter, and missing that deadline is what turns a manageable notice into a real problem. Bring in the notice with all of its pages, including the envelope. The most common letter is a CP2000, which is neither a bill nor an audit — it means something reported to the IRS does not match your return, and it is frequently either incorrect or already accounted for.
Yes. If a past return missed a deduction or credit, or reported something incorrectly, it can be amended on Form 1040-X. A refund generated by an amended return is generally still claimable within three years of the original return's due date, so it is worth having older returns reviewed if you suspect something was missed.
Business
It depends on how you take money out of the business, what your liability exposure looks like, and how much annual administration you are willing to carry. The structure that is right at launch is often not the one that is right three years later, which is why this is worth revisiting rather than deciding once. We open both corporations and L.L.C.s and will walk you through which fits your situation before anything is filed.
Year-round. We manage accounts receivable and payable, general ledger and cash flow, with monthly reconciliation, and we work in QuickBooks or alongside whatever system you already use. If your books have fallen behind, we can catch them up before starting regular service.
Florida requires a fictitious name registration before you trade under any name other than your legal one, and most owners find this out at the bank when an account application is refused. We check the name's availability, handle the registration with the Division of Corporations along with the advertisement requirement Florida attaches to it, and give you documentation your bank will accept.
The office
222 Neighborhood Market Rd #104, Orlando, FL 32825 — right next to the Walmart Neighborhood Market, with parking directly outside. We serve clients across Orlando and Central Florida, including Union Park, Azalea Park, Waterford Lakes, Avalon Park and East Orlando.
Our regular, year-round hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed Saturday and Sunday. During tax season — January 15 through April 15 — we extend our hours: Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Saturday 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Sunday is closed year-round, tax season included. The office is open all year, not only during filing season, so bookkeeping, payroll and IRS matters are handled whenever they come up.
Three ways, whichever suits you: photograph your documents and email them straight from your phone, bring them to the office during business hours, or call (407) 482-4041 and we will walk you through it. If you send photos, lay each page flat in good light with all four corners in frame — we will review what you send and let you know if anything is missing. And if you have a question first, calling is fastest: you reach the office directly, not a call center.
Yes. Notary service is available to anyone who needs it, whether or not you have ever had a return prepared here. One important rule: do not sign the document before you arrive. A notary is required to witness the signature, and a document that has already been signed has to be redone.
